Children & Youth

At Crossroads, we have committed to becoming an intergenerational community. This impacts our worship life, and means that the ways in which we worship need to be accessible not only to those "seasoned" worshippers, but also to those whose bodies want to move! Children and youth are warmly welcomed at Crossroads, not only because Jesus said, "Let the children come to me," but also because they have spiritual gifts and wisdom to share.

In our weekly worship service, there are opportunities for children and youth to participate and to lead the congregation. The music of Crossroads is lively and accessible, incorporating not only hymns with many verses, but also short choruses which are easily memorized by non-readers. A child lights the Christ candle each week, and interested children and youth form part of the regular roster of readers and greeters.

The "storytelling" moment each week with the children is a dedicated moment shared by one of our ministers and any children who are present, to engage about the theme of the Sunday school unit the children are currently working on.

Opportunities for youth to offer their gifts to the worshipping community increase with age and experience. Youth are welcome to participate in any number of ministries surrounding worship, from the technical side (sound and projection) to dramatic presentations and music leadership.
