Children
"Prayer is needed for children. Whatever religion we are, we must pray together. Children need to learn to pray, and they need to have their parents pray with them. If we don't do this, it will become difficult to become holy, to carry on, to strengthen ourselves in faith!" ~ Mother Teresa (1910-1997)
Children are treasured at Crossroads United Church. Babies get passed around during worship (only if the parents are willing, of course!), preschoolers find a welcome in the Sanctuary as well as the Nursery, and the wiggly bodies and curious minds of children of all ages are received with grace and humour. This is not a congregation where a sudden piping voice during a quiet moment in worship is met with severe looks and "shhhh!" but a community of faith who have made a conscious decision to embrace our identity as one of the only places in Canadian society where generations come together. The consequent richness of congregational life is a rare gift in our age-segregated culture, and children (and their harried parents) can be major beneficiaries of it.
